Cris San Miguel is the Assistant Director of the Garden State-LSAMP, an NSF-funded program designed to increase the participation and success in STEM of students historically underrepresented in these fields. The alliance includes seven New Jersey Universities (Fairleigh Dickinson, Kean, Montclair State, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers-Newark, Rutgers-New Brunswick, and William Paterson) and Essex County College. Cris holds a BA in Art History from Princeton and an MS and Ph.D. in Soil Microbiology from Rutgers-New Brunswick.  Cris has taught both General Biology and Microbiology at Essex County College.
