Joe is a partner with Middlebrooks Shapiro, P.C. in Springfield, NJ where he concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and individual reorganization, liquidation, bankruptcy, creditor/debtor rights, and state, federal, and appellate litigation.  Since 2014, Mr. Shapiro regularly presents continuing legal education courses through the New Jersey State Bar Association on various aspects of bankruptcy and assignments for the benefit of creditors. Since 2018, Mr. Shapiro has taught business law as an adjunct professor at Union County College. Since 2016, Mr. Shapiro has focused on New Jersey cannabis and hemp licensing has organized and moderated numerous cannabis and hemp panels and presentations and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Cannabis Law Committee.  From 2010 and 2015, Joseph co-founded a startup company which operated a nationwide Chapter 13 bankruptcy trustee payment service, which held a business method patent entitled “Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee Payment System and Method”.  Between 2005 to 2008, Joseph accepted legal internships with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton Inc. and Sony BMG Music Entertainment in New York and served as a research assistant to Seton Hall University Law professors.  Mr. Shapiro has J.D., with a concentration in intellectual property law, from Seton Hall University Law School, and a B.F.A., magna cum laude, in industrial design from the Savannah College of Art & Design.
